Hello all! I am having such a wonderfully blissful Saturday. This week felt like FOREVER. I truly didn’t think Friday would come. As many of you know, the official start of Autumn was this past week, and boy did it feel like it. This time of year just makes me want to go on crispy air walks, come home and sip tea by the fire with a plump book. And that’s what this week felt like, fall makes you want to slow down and be more grounded. So, here are some snapshots of my today, I hope your today is blissed out!

Date night for…one?

You are beautiful bunch of molecules, baby baby. And you work mega hard. I think it’s time to treat yo self.


Sometimes, you just need to pamper yourself, and i’m all for it. Before you can start anything, turn off all distractions. Make sure you have all work out of the way, dishwasher started, phone off. Now, here is my four step (foolproof) guide to feeling your best self in an evening.

1. TeaseMe. Tea is literally the best thing ever. There are a ridiculous amount of flavors, all awaiting your lips. It is warm & perfect. Grab a cup and drank. It’s warmth will make your tummy happy. If you don’t like tea, I’m sorry but you’re wrong.

2. PamperMe. Our face gets looked at a lot throughout the day. Below is my favorite homemade face scrub recipe, if you have dry skin, work some coconut oil on your face after washing off the scrub. PS: the mask can also be used as a lip scrub. PPS: yes, you can lick it off.

Glow, baby, glow face/lip scrub:

  • 1 spoonful of raw honey (uber hydrating and a natural cleanser) 
  • 2 spoonfuls of sugar (i use coconut sugar)
  • 1/2 spoonful of coconut oil, mashed (glow! soften!)
  • a dash of cinnamon (breakouts be gone) 
  • leave for about five minutes then wash (or lick) off with warm water

3. BatheMe. Start some relaxing wave sounds, get your favorite bubble-soap, and hop in the bath. STFU to people who say that you’re bathing in your own filth. Go, have fun with your cold and wet shower. Grab a book, light some candles, and let your fingers and toes become raisons.

4. RestMe. Beauty sleep is no joke people. I’m guessing you haven’t been getting as many hours on your pillow as you should be. Now that your skin and belly are feeling gorge & glowy, sleep. I hope you dream of rainbows and kittens.

What diet should i be eating? (listening to your body)

Hello friends! I think all of us, especially those more connected to their health, ask ourselves this question at many points in our lives. All around us, are adverts for ‘getting skinny quick’, ‘the ab diet’, ‘try this new diet!’. It follows us everywhere. There is a mass of diets, and people doing them who claim it is, ‘their holy grail’, ‘everyone should be eating this way’, ‘this diet has changed my life’, etc. Paleo, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Raw Vegan, Atkins, Raw-Till-4, and an overwhelming amount of others. While, yes, for some people these ways of eating makes sparks fly and heals them, for others, they feel as if the way their eating isn’t good enough. That they have to eat this way, that what they are currently doing is wrong. The truth is that, genetically, we are all different. Our bodies function in different ways, our gut’s are all built differently, we all have different tolerances. So, to be saying “everyone should be Paleo” or “humans should never eat animal products”, or “we all should never eat gluten” is just wrong. For some people, they will strive, and others will be left feeling tired, gassy, and confused. Go ahead, try what you will, but just because someone said that it worked for them, does not mean it will work for you. 

Listen to your body, it knows what is best. There is a phrase, “listen to your gut”, literally, listen to your gut. If your stomach hurts and you feel tired after eating, experiment, figure out what’s wrong! I say it’s much better to start with the basics: fruit, veg, grains, lean meats, legumes, nuts/seeds, beans. Go from there, see how your body reacts to each food. If your taste buds are satisfied, your gut feels fine, and you are happy about what you’re eating, there is no need to go and change the way you eat!

Eleanor Calder

I love Eleanor Calder, her whole look is very simple and natural, not to mention Eleanor is drop dead gorgeous. I have done my fair share of stalking to put together a little trio on how to get her style, makeup, and hair so you don’t have to, thank me later.

A lot of you are probably wondering this right now. Drop your Google search page and I’ll relieve you; Eleanor is well-known for being One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson’s girlfriend, but Calder has became a style icon for her simplicity. I mean, let’s be real, if someone gets a famous boy-bander, don’t you want to look a bit like them?


Eleanor’s simple and young everyday style is filled with jeans, sneakers, leather jackets, and overalls. TopShop seems to be a store she shops at quite a bit.

Like Eleanor’s style, her makeup is very simple and natural. She just puts on just a bit to emphasize her features.

She said that sometimes she won’t even bother with foundation and just use her YSL touché éclat concealer, but when she does foundation, Eleanor uses the YSL touché éclat foundation. Next Eleanor sets her foundation with Rimmel Stay Matte powder and bronzes up with NARS Laguna. For cheeks, Eleanor adds color with TopShop’s cream blushers. The only thing Calder does with her eyes is mascara, and then she’s on to lips! For lips, Eleanor has said to use Vaseline with a dab of YSL concealer.



Eleanor is mostly always wearing her hair curled in a middle part. Just get about a 1” curling wand and curl away from your face in sections about the size of your ear.

Do you know where you live?

I take the same route to school everyday. Today, I opened my eyes and actually looked around. Everyday, I just look straight forward and complain about how slow the cars are moving. I realized that I knew nothing about a route that I have been taking for five years. To me this opened my eyes and inspired me to realize were I am. Pay attention to who your are with, what they are saying, and what is going on around you.

I encourage you to get to know where you are. It is easy to say you live somewhere; but difficult to say that you know where you live.

Why I Hate School But Love Education

After I saw the video by Suli Breaks on Youtube a couple months ago, I immediately related and felt inspired by it. I am finally sitting down to write about it. I have my own thoughts on this topic and I would like to share them here with you.

Let me ask you this; What are you studying for? People say that education is the key to success. I hear teachers, parents and most people in society say that I need to go through high school, get into the best college I can, and then get a job. There is so much pressure to follow this path – do well in school, to get A’s, to get into advanced colleges, to do well on the SAT’s, to join clubs and be involved.

But …. Why? Why do we do this? Because people tell us to do this? Because it has worked for others? Because it is what is expected? Because it is the easy path to follow?

People need to realize that education is not the same as school. Education is about inspiring one’s mind not just filling the student’s head. Search “school is” into Google, and you will get this – “school is…prison … waste of time … boring.” Search “school makes me feel” and you will get…worthless … suicidal … sad … like a failure. In school, if you fail a test it makes you feel like a failure. This is terrible. This is no way to inspire and teach people.

What is the point of this? So the end goal is so you can get a job? How much of the content from these classes in high school and college will you need in this job? Is this really the best way to learn and inspire? college stress

To me, so much of school is worthless because you are just going through a standard routine. The whole process is all about filling seven hours of the say in an endless pursuit of trying to get a grade, just trying to pass the next test, just trying to finish the latest assignment. School is about memorizing dates and times and numbers, then right after the test, poof. The information is gone;  I never think of them again. This is a terrible way to “learn.” And for teachers to ask us why we’re so quiet and uninterested. Hphm … maybe it’s because we get no sleep and are constantly racking our brains out to complete and endless stream of boring, meaningless assignments.

I find it ridiculous how kids wouldn’t dare skip school if they had strep or the flu because “they can’t dare miss a day of school” or they will get marked down and come back to a stack of work as tall as them. Then there are people getting A’s just to please their parents, but they themselves are bored and yearn for something else. Myself, I often return to school the next fall having forgotten basically everything I learned previously because it means nothing to me – or it was taught to me in a way in which it had no meaning or exciting to me. School is not educating me. School is sucking the life out of students while failing to teach us what we need to know in life. Except for the rare teacher, a love for learning and a spark of excitement is lacking. School is not the same as education.

Education is different. Now Google “education is” and you will get “education is…the key to success … freedom …the great equalizer.” Education inspires, with education you can do whatever you want and learn what you are interested in. Not once in school have I learned how to chase my dreams, to learn how to make money, to learn how to do laundry, or even to explore what to do after college. But of course it is necessary that I know where Uganda is and the complexities of polynomial systems. But I do not know how to balance a check book. I do not know what entrepreneurship is. I do not get to explore my passions – video, creation, storytelling – and learn academic subjects by applying the concepts to my passions. Why not?

John D Rockefeller, Simon Cowell, Abraham Lincoln, Julie Andrews, Michael J Fox, Amancio Ortega Gaona, Wolfgang Puck, Walt Disney, and Halle Berry – these are just a few of the people who never went to college. Steve Jobs, Matt Damon and Bill Gates are college drop outs. Yet, people look down on others who choose to not go to college after high school. People criticize though who chose to explore a different path as they explore their passions in life. Now those are the people we should be praising. Education is not limited to traditional definition of school. There is more than one way to be an educated woman or man.

I say no … stop it all. School should be about learning and inspiring. Students and teachers should get out of the classroom and experience learning and living. Individuals should be encouraged to explore their passions and teachers should frame the subjects in a way that the learning is applied to the interest of the individual student. Yes, it is more work for the teachers – but why cannot our schools be dynamic this way? Why cannot the gap between education and school be bridged? Why can’t society encourage a non-traditional path of work, entrepreneurship, service, and exploration?

As Robert Frost wrote in the poem The Road Not Taken (1920)

Two roads diverged in a wood and I took the one less travelled by. And that made all the difference.” 

Follow your dreams, follow your path. Live your life fully because, if you do not, you will merely be an actor in someone else’s life story.

Change is good

Recently I have been pondering the idea of changing up my blog “topic.” I asked on Instagram and Twitter if I should keep Clairety (and still post regularly) but also create a new blog to share my thoughts and other things besides health or just keep Clairety and post more personal things on here. @pippyluc on Instagram (follow her by the way) said something I really liked and is a big reason why I am going to be posting different things on Clairety, “! Health isn’t just physical. It’s mental too-so I would love to see your personal thoughts on your blog! x”

So, my friends, here are three reasons as to why my blog will be changing to more of a personal format:

  1. I can create more content, for all of my lovely readers
  2. You get to know a more personal side of me
  3. Yes, I am still very interested in health and fitness, but health isn’t just greens and beans. Health is mental, physical, and emotional. I don’t want to be just “slapping out” content that I’m not invested in and proud of.

I hope my new blog format will be a win-win for all of us. I would love it if you left below some topics or ideas you wish I would touch on.

How to Stay Fit on Vacation

Recently I have been traveling like crazy. Which would explain the fact of my unexplained absence. Currently I am in Washington DC and, with the help of the mother, I have collected a few tips on how to stay fit whilst on vacation! tumblr_mrwzd4rMbz1rrg3eqo1_1280

  • Skip the bread at the restaurant. At most restaurants you can simply just ask for them to not bring the bread, then you won’t be thinking about it.
  • Uh-oh the sweet tooth monster is knocking at your door…LET HIM IN! Have a bite of dessert, just not the whole thing.
  • Drink, drink, drink! (Water)
  • Always get in a healthy breakfast; eggs or a yogurt parfait is the way to go!
  • Choose one thing on your plate to eliminate.
  • Get your sleep. Oh and not to mention you could add a couple extra Z’s in your regular regimen
  • Get your early morning sweat on, while exploring the city! Going on a nice run/bike ride will clear your mind and allow you to see where you are. (NOTE: In some city’s/ hotels you can rent bikes.)
  • Skip the cab and walk! Not to mention it will save you a few bucks, J-crew here I come!!
